Water Workout

Hey everyone,

It's always difficult to keep up your exercise regime when travelling. However, if you are creative, you can always find something to do!  If the weather is nice, take a walk outside and check out your destination.  Or, if you have the time, many cities have bicycles for rent.  Another great option is swimming.  Plan to stay at a hotel with a gym and/or swimming pool if possible.  No excuses!

Tannys was recently travelling for business. The hotel had a small gym, but it also had a really nice pool, which she took advantage of!

Since Tannys and Alex have been swimming laps twice a week for the past month, she elected to use the pool.  Instead of the usual laps, she tried water jogging!  This can be difficult to do at your typical lane swim (due to crowding), so an empty hotel pool is a great place to try it out!

You can water jog either touching the floor of the pool or not touching (the latter is much harder!).  If you are in deep water, try using a flotation device to hold yourself up.  Water jogging feels very different from regular jogging, due to the water resistance as you move forwards. There is also very little impact on your joints.  This is also a great option for pregnant women!

Give water jogging a try during your next vacation and let us know what you think!
