Last week, we received a request for more information on exercise during pregnancy. For most pregnant women, staying fit and healthy is very beneficial to both you and your baby. Read on to find out more about bodyweight exercise during pregnancy...
Before starting any exercise program while pregnant, it is imperative that you speak to your doctor to see if working out is safe for you. Most women are able to safely exercise while pregnant, with modifications to exercises throughout, however some women should not workout while pregnant. See my previous posts under the "Pregnancy" tab for some reasons why exercise may not be safe, but regardless, speak to your doctor first.
Pregnant women who were not active prior to pregnancy should not start an intense exercise regime now. If this is you, you should consider slower-paced activities such as walking or swimming. If you do choose to start other activities, be sure to go slow at the outset.
Women who are active prior to pregnancy can initially continue to exercise in a similar fashion while pregnant. Modifications will need to be made however, such as not lying flat on your back after about 16 weeks pregnancy, and being cautious with exercise where you may lose your balance (as your centre of gravity will change). Keep in mind that pregnancy is not a time to try to achieve peak fitness - stay active to keep healthy, but look to reach your fitness goals after you have your baby!

Please remember that there are limitations to providing you with exercise information online. It is your responsibility to clear any exercise program with your physician. I can provide you with demonstrations of how to perform exercises, but executing the exercises in a safe manner is your responsibility. Any type of exercise has the risk of injury, so be careful when exercising and know your limitations.

Hi there....I have a somewhat unique strategy when it comes to using body weight exercises to burn fat, and it's called Dynamic Body Weight Training (DBT for short). In its very basic form, DBT consists of 5 main exercises, each one focused on delivering an "exercise shock" to different parts of the body, and forcing it to try and adapt to those movements.Read more-max the body philisaire
