Another Awesome Clydesdale Workout!

Hey everyone,

We had a special Sunday workout today, where we trained with our friend Mark.  He's in excellent shape and was the co-creator of our Clydesdale training (see previous post at http://couplefit.blogspot.ca/2011/11/clydesdale-training.html).  Today, we did another awesome Clydesdale workout with him, including some favourite exercises from last year's session.

We started the workout with car-pushing.  It's as simple and as tough as it sounds.  You put the car in neutral and push it around the block, taking turns to push and steer.  It's incredible how difficult it becomes and you'll notice the slightest incline in roads which you would never have perceived before!

As with last year, we got many incredulous stares and many offers for a boost.  When we explained that we were doing this voluntarily, for fitness, people seemed shocked.  There were even some families which watched in bewilderment and intrigue as we circled the block several times.

The next component of our Clydesdale training was to take our Jungle Gym XT outdoors to the park down the street.  We played around with different exercises.  This was another reminder of how enjoyable it is to train outdoors in the summer - it's certainly something we'll be doing again soon.

For the third and final component of the Clydesdale workout, we returned to our home gym and did battlerope circuits.  We each took turns, working for 25 seconds, with a 5 second change-over to the next person.  Here are a couple of brief demonstrations of the battlerope slams and waves that we did in these circuits.

This was an awesome and intense Clydesdale workout - it exemplified some of the best elements of unconventional training, including the use of atypical/unusual exercises, a focus on functionality, as well as epic intensity.  It was such a good training session that we went to the Hintonburger afterwards - we felt we had earned it!
