Car Pushing and Kettlebell Swings

Hey everyone,

Over this past long weekend, we decided it was time to do a killer strength and cardio workout, including one of our favorite types of exercise - car pushing!  Combining this with some kettlebell work, gave us a great full body challenge.

Fitness Challenge: Flight of 100

Hey everyone,

It was time for another fitness challenge.  As we looked back in our training log recently, we realized that we had neglected farmer's walks over the last couple of months.  These are an excellent full body exercise and are very functional - in a basic sense, they involve walking while carrying weight.  You may have seen them featured in strongman competitions...

We have created another version of farmer's walks: stair carries.  As you'll see in this post, there are many different variations of this exercise, but they are all challenging, albeit in different ways.

Another Awesome Clydesdale Workout!

Hey everyone,

We had a special Sunday workout today, where we trained with our friend Mark.  He's in excellent shape and was the co-creator of our Clydesdale training (see previous post at http://couplefit.blogspot.ca/2011/11/clydesdale-training.html).  Today, we did another awesome Clydesdale workout with him, including some favourite exercises from last year's session.

New Workouts, Based On the Most Effective Exercises

Hey everyone,

We try to stay up-to-date on new practices and events in the fitness world by regularly perusing certain fitness blogs.  Recently, while reading through Ben Bruno's excellent compilation of 'Good Reads' (http://www.benbruno.com/2012/04/good-fitness-reads-3/), we checked out an article titled 'Top 10 Weight Training Exercises for Building Muscle' (http://jasonferruggia.com/weight-training-exercises/).  This article provided an interesting take on the most effective exercises, which inspired us to modify our workouts.

So far after 2 workouts, we haven't transformed into Arnold - but they were good workouts!

Countdown Workout

Hey everyone,
For today's workout, we decided to focus on conditioning.  It is very important to keep you workouts balanced by incorporating some with a strength focus and some to improve your cardiovascular capacity.

Round Two: Farmer's Walks

Hey everyone,

We are on round two of our One-A-Day program.  It has been great so far and we hope to continue using it for the time being, although we may switch some of the exercises in upcoming cycles (e.g. we thought of switching out farmer's walks in future weeks to kettlebell swings - both are 'full-body' exercises that will help us with strength and metabolic conditioning).

We hope that we are inspiring people through CoupleFit; sharing new ideas and helping build motivation to embrace a healthy lifestyle as a couple, including fitness...

One-A-Day: Farmer's Walk

Hey everyone,

On February 1st, we started our 'One-A-Day' exercise routine with one of our recent favourites, the farmer's walk.  This is a very simple, functional, yet challenging exercise.  In essence, it boils down to walking while carrying weight.

Workouts - Density-Training Videos and New Workout Ideas

Hey everyone,

We decided to continue our trend of pulling and pushing full-body workouts, to allow for back-to-back workouts.  We have also continued to experiment with metabolic finishers at the end of some workouts, including one of our favourite tools - battleropes!

Workouts - Countdown plus battleropes!

Hey everyone,

For our Saturday workout, we did another 300 countdown workout.  However, this time we changed the exercises and included a bonus 5 minute metabolic finisher - battleropes!

Workouts - Clydesdale Training

Hey everyone,

This morning, my good friend Mark and I worked out together.  The focus of the workout was conditioning, yet it was truly a full body workout and a surprisingly challenging one at that.  In the spirit of some of the exercises and the intensity that went into it, we named it 'Clydesdale' training.

Workouts - Strength-based leg workout & battleropes!

Hey everyone,

As Tannys wrote earlier, we are both feeling a bit under the weather (admittedly, her more than me).  Perhaps it was the travelling, with exposure to more people, altered routines and diets, etc.?  In any case, I wanted to do a workout this evening but didn't want to put my body under too much stress and risk developing a full-blown cold.
