We recently purchased a great new book and learning tool, Strong Curves, written by Bret Contreras and Kellie Davis. This book is geared towards strength training for women.
Strong Curves discusses the benefits of full body training for women and why focusing on your glutes can help you attain the ideal body that you want. Although the focus is on training for women, much of the book's content also applies to men.
Strong Curves discusses which exercises really activate your glutes and how to do so. This helps ensure that this large muscle group is firing in any exercise you complete. The programs in this book are split into both beginner and advanced and give many alternative exercise options if you are limited by strength and/or equipment. It also has a great strength chart for women to allow you to compare what you are lifting to the average lifts for beginner, intermediate and advanced skill levels. This will help determine which areas you are strong in and which areas you really need to focus. At the end of the book, there is a helpful section on common mistakes and how to correct them.
Overall, this book is a great read, with lots of tips for working out. If you're tired of your current workouts and in need of a change, or if you're not seeing the results you want, I recommend you give Strong Curves a read. You won't be disappointed!
