Sometimes we get nostalgic for the kind of workouts we used to do when we went to a 'big-box' gym. They were lengthy, yet pleasant workouts. We would pick several exercises and just do them sequentially, one at a time, taking ample rest in between each set. This format of workout works well if you pick challenging compound exercises and lift heavy weights (for strength building). It can also be a social, relaxing workout when you take a break between sets to chat. That's why this workout style is great when you have lots of time, like on an evening where you have nothing else to do, or on a weekend.
We did a 'traditional' upper body workout, selecting four exercises. We did three sets of each. We started out with parallel pullups (Tannys did bodyweight, while Alex added a 32kg kettlebell for additional weight). Next, we did incline bench press. Then we did one-arm kettlebell rows. We finished off with heavy, standing one-arm presses. As a bonus, we did a 1.5X pullup challenge (single set) to finish off the workout.

Finisher - 1.5X Pullups
This was a fun workout, although it probably took us over an hour to finish it! We enjoyed taking our time on this one, chatting in between sets. The ample rest periods also allowed us to perform more reps than we likely would have done using a different workout format.
