When we were down in Fort Lauderdale in November, we were browsing through a sports store and decided to purchase a skipping rope. Both of us remembered skipping when we were children, but hadn't done it for years. We have since tested it out and have discovered that it offers a great cardio challenge!
That skipping is good exercise shouldn't have surprised us. We see pictures of boxers training with skipping ropes (and these athletes are known to have tremendous conditioning and athletic ability).
The motion came back to us very easily and we quickly got into a comfortable rhythm. We also found that you can push the pace and really start to feel it - you'll be breathing hard in no time! We have found that skipping is great as an interval training tool. We have also incorporated it between our weightlifting sets, for an additional fitness challenge.

We are glad that we picked up this fitness tool and look forward to using it in our upcoming workouts. It is inexpensive, lightweight (and thus easy to travel with), and easy to use. Finally, we have rediscovered how much fun skipping is. It is a great addition to our fitness repertoire - you should give it a try!
