Fit Travel

Hey everyone,

There's nothing worse than coming back from a holiday feeling unhealthy from eating out and deviating from your usual fitness routine...  We just got back from a long weekend away in Montreal, and although we definitely ate more (and less healthy) than usual, we managed to fit in two workouts.

Planning ahead is one of the best ways to make sure you incorporate fitness into your holiday.  We searched for a hotel with exercise facilities, proximity to city attractions (allowing you to walk everywhere) and we also took our new Jungle Gym XT suspension trainer along with us.   We managed to do a lot of walking (several hours each day), plus lower and upper body workouts.

Our first workout was completed entirely in our hotel room.  We attached the Jungle Gym over the bathroom door and used the hallway area to perform our exercises - 3 circuits focused on lower body.

Here is what we did:

  1. Jumping lunges
  2. Hamstring curls
  3. Pistol squats
  4. Hamstring bicycles
  5. Foot-up lunges

At the end of our workout we had a relaxing dip in the pool (cool glass bottom as you can see from this pic of the plaza, below) and sauna!

The next day, we did an early morning workout, utilizing both the Jungle Gym XT, as well as the hotel's gym.  For the morning workout (focused on upper body), we started out with three exercises in the gym and completed three sets of three exercises (with a bonus set of pullups).  Then we returned to the room and finished the workout on the Jungle Gym XT, performing another three circuits of three exercises.

Here is what we did:
  1. Pullups
  2. Chest press (on a machine)
  3. Shoulder press (on a machine)

  1. Jungle Gym Reverse Pushups
  2. Jungle Gym Pushups
  3. Jungle Gym Y-Pulls

Exercising while travelling kept us feeling healthier, energetic and more happy.  With a gym in your hotel, or even without, you always have the option to fit in a workout and maintain the gains you have fought hard for!
